Tom Felton discusses Draco with Aced Magazine

This is a teaser report from the set of Half-Blood Prince where Tom had talked about Draco Malfoy with Aced Magazine.

Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy) has a bigger role in Half-Blood Prince so we get to see a little more from his character this time around. “Draco has slightly more of a central plot as far as good and evil. I think that for the last sort of five years he’s always been very envious that Harry is the chosen one. I think that he’s given the opportunity to be the chosen one for the other guys. At first he laps up the opportunity to do so,” says Felton, “but he has a few internal questions that have difficulty being answered within himself. He doesn’t quite realize the severity of what he’s about to get himself into, nor the lack of confidence that he really has in what he’s trying to achieve.”

We also find out more about Draco in general in this production. “It’s great to find out more about the character and to dive a bit deeper into why he is the way that he is, and this goes into his relationship with his a father a bit more. His father is not around in this film so he feels slightly weaker without him, definitely, but he knows that he’s the man of the Malfoy Manner and so he has to step up his game. It’s a contradiction too. He wants to step up and be the big shot, but equally he knows deep down that he’s not half the man that Harry is, I’m sure,” reveals Felton.

  1. He is taking a huge step for him!!! Feel so bad for him but we all know he’s okay in the end!! I’m so HAPPY!!!!! 😀

  2. Slightly off topic, but my head went in the direction of… I really hope they don’t make Tom ‘go bald’ at the end of Deathly Hallows production. That part made me sad. How pathetic of me is that? =P Heehee

On a different note, I absolutely CANNOT wait to actually see Half Blood Prince! Twilight ((the movie)) wasn’t good enough to stand in place of HP!

  3. Mh I like to think that Draco is not evil or bad per say. He was raised to believe a certain thing. Some friends and I argued once if the Malfoys are turning good at the end. I really like to think they do but what you really see is that they stay together as a family and in a way know love. Draco does a lot of things to make sure his mother is safe, it is not an easy thing to take care of family while you are still young. And after the war you see Drac years later with his own son! What happened in the years between the final battle and then? And it is sad, that we don`t know really how the Malfoys family life was when Draco was in first or second year.

I just think that these kind of “bad” characters are much more multifarious then the good ones.

I really want to see the movie too!

  4. i can’t WAIT 4 HBP to cum out 7/15. this is gonna b huge step for him……..HP EASILY RULES OVR TWILIGHT!!!!!!! 😆 ❗ 😆 ❗ 😆 🙂 🙂 🙂

  5. Excellent characterization of Draco. And I’m LOL at Kit Elizabeth. A balding Draco is not a pretty vision in my head either!

  6. Excellent and accurate résumé of Draco’s whereabouts. To see him confronted to his doubts and fears at last, shows than he’s no different of any us…

    With Love,

    Sam.

  7. “he knows deep down that he’s not half the man that Harry is”

Sorry, but I disagree with this. I think that if Draco’s so stressed about his mission is because he doesn’t really want to kill anyone. He’s not a murderer and he knows that what he’s been forced to do is wrong.

Such a shame some people think his better side it’s a sign of weakness. I think it’s a sign of goodness.

  8. I totally agree that inability to kill is a good thing. Valuing human life is a virtue, and I think it’s a shame that so many people seem to think it’s a weakness. Anyway, I’m glad we get to see a more 3-D version of Draco in the 6th film like in the book.
