Tom Felton Donates Guitar to Help Haiti Relief Effort

The Harry Potter Alliance (HPA) is sponsoring a huge fundrasing event for long term relief in Haiti and, today, Tom Felton announced his support of the effort by tweeting that he will be donating one of his guitars to help them out!

Tom’s signed guitar is currently on its way to HPA and will be offered as a possible “Thank you gift” to supporters who donate $75.

Feltbeats has also learned that Tom’s Harry Potter co-star Evanna Lynch will be contributing to the effort, though we don’t have the details of her involvement yet.

Along with Tom’s guitar, HPA has recieved over 200 incredible items which will be given as thank you gifts, one of the most notable being a full set of Harry Potter books signed by author JK Rowling. Please visit http://www.thhpalliance.org/haiti for more information and a listing of all items that have been donated.

Other Feltbeats members are actively involved in the effort. Feltbeats Admin, Javastix, is also donating items through The Leaky Cauldron and the crafty witches there.

The Harry Potter Alliance is dedicated to using the examples of Harry Potter and Albus Dumbledore to spread love and fight the Dark Arts in the real world. They have joined forces with Partners in Health to gain support for long term relief in Haiti.

An incredible four hour LiveCast on Saturday, January 23 was broadcast to promote the event and, at the time of this writing, they’ve raised almost $35,000 US.

Another Livecast is scheduled for Wednesday. It’s possible that Tom may be involved further in this worthwhile effort, and we’ll keep you updated as we hear more.

The donation drive continues through January 30, 2010, and donations can be made through the HPA website http://thehpalliance.org/haiti. Check it out! 🙂

UPDATE: The guitar has been posted on the donation site as of this morning (Monday)

  2. @feltbeats I’m from Argentina? Is there any chance for me to win? Because, really… I’m a bit far away.. Lol

  3. @feltbeats HAha I told him to go to In-n-out too, all us L.A peeps think a like. I also said Pink’s Hot Dogs(cont..)

  4. @feltbeats if he want to wait in line for 30 mins. I also told him to go to Rodeo drive to shop for Jade.

  5. Do they really want to give their charites now?

Hope those charities will not end in vain!

  6. I couldn’t expect nothing more from Thomas’s share than donating one of his guitars, to give an hand to these people, whom have lost everything into that horrible earthquake.

To help out others in need has always meant a lot to him. No wonder he could only be involved this time again, for Haiti.

    Bravo, Thomas. Thanks for Haiti.

    With Love,

    Sam.

  7. You are so right! Tom’s long history of being involved in doing good for others was what made me a fan. He truly has a good heart, and we were amazed to hear that he would give up something as important to him as one of his precious guitars to help people in need.

  8. He tweeted “i’m going to donate one of my guitars and sign it and put it up for auction for Haiti (more info on that to come) ”

Where in that did he say it was going to HPA? According to the HPA tweets, he said he “MIGHT” be meaning them, but “prize” and “auction” are two different things. Don’t lie to us when you don’t actually know.

  9. Hi Kate!

I’m not sure if you’re familiar with Feltbeats.com, but we work closely with Tom on many projects.

In this case, we’ve been talking with Tom and the HPA organizers for a few days trying to get this together. In addition to Tom’s tweet, we also received an e-mail from Tom notifying us that he was going to contribute a signed guitar – very generous of him!

So, I think saying we are “lying” is a little harsh! =P

    Thanks for your post though!

    Misha
