Tom Felton Cast in “Rise of the Apes” as a Human.

Hype has been high for the seventh film in the “Planet of the Apes” series, and in this latest incarnation (the last being from 2001 and starring the Man-Who-Won’t-Shut-Up-During-Other’s-Acceptance-Speeches Mark Wahlberg), they are going back to the Apes origins.

According to the film’s IMDB page:

An origin story set in present day San Francisco, where man’s own experiments with genetic engineering lead to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy.

The film is listed as starring James Franco (YAY!), Freida Pinto, and Andy Serkis. Tom will be playing the son of the experimental facility’s co-owner (Tom’s character owns the other half) played by Brian Cox who is, of course, evil.

Anyone see an X-Men similarity in that sentence, or is it just me?

  1. @feltbeats i wonder if it feels degrading for a super hottie like @tomfelton to be cast as a ‘mere mortal’. LOL

  2. I’m so glad it was confirmed! I found lots of articles about the movie, but only a couple mentioned Tom, so I didn’t want to get my hopes up. I loved the original and I can’t wait!

  3. VERY COOL!! I adore Andy Serkis. Andy + Tom = I will actually go see this film.

  4. Wow! A major motion picture, what a great opportunity for Tom.
Besides, Tom Felton + James Franco = Must see movie!
BTW LOL at: The Man-Who-Won’t-Shut-Up-During-Other’s-Acceptance-Speeches Mark Wahlberg
