Members of the Broadway Primary School Film Club watch a live link-up with Harry Potter star Tom Felton, who plays Draco Malfoy.
Excited young film fans have come face to face with one of the wizarding world’s biggest stars.
Pupils at Broadway Junior School were thrilled to be given the chance to quiz Harry Potter star Tom Felton, who plays the hero’s nemesis Draco Malfoy in the epic movies.Members of the Wearside school’s film club were chosen to take part in the national after-school group Filmclub’s first ever live webcast.
Teacher Audrey Ferry, who runs the club at the Springwell Road school, said: “The youngsters were very excited about the Filmclub webcast and came up with all sorts of interesting questions for Tom.
“To communicate with such a well-known actor was a great opportunity for all of us.”
The webcast, the first for Filmclub, was arranged as part of the initiative’s Close Encounters programme, which lets school children interact with film industry professionals.
Tom, 22, has been acting professionally since he was 10, when he starred as Peagreen Clock in Peter Hewitt’s fantastical tale The Borrowers.
He then played the son of Jodie Foster’s character in the Academy Award nominated film, Anna and the King, before being cast in the role of Draco Malfoy at 11, which was to make him a household name as Harry Potter’s arch-rival.
His character will hit the big screen again in October this year with the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part One.
Tom, who became a supporter of Filmclub when he presented an award to a filmclubber at the Young Film Critics Awards last year, was asked a number of questions by the Broadway Junior School youngsters about his adventures in the wizarding world and his own personal favourite films.
