Tom Felton has emotional visit to Auschwitz

Contactmusic.com has posted a little article covering Tom’s tweets from this morning when he mentioned his trip to Poland. During the trip, Tom visited Auschwitz, Birkenau and Monowitz and called it one of the most draining days he’s ever had.

This must have been a very emotional trip for Tom because his girlfriend’s aunt and uncle are Auschwitz survivors who sucked on coal to survive starvation.

Here is the story from Contactmusic.com:

Felton’s Tearful Trip To Auschwitz

HARRY POTTER star TOM FELTON has paid an emotional visit to Nazi death camp Auschwitz – calling the trip “mentally painful”.

The British actor travelled to the site of the former concentration camp in Poland on Tuesday (11May10), the place where an estimated 1.1 million people died during World War II.

And he admits he found the moving experience “hard”, but insists his fans should visit the site to witness the true horror of Nazi tyranny.

In a post on his Twitter.com blog, Felton writes, “I went to Poland yesterday, went to Auschwitz, it was a very hard and mentally painful day, however I’m so happy I’ve been and seen all the camps. I’m completely aware of what went on only a generation ago. I recommend everyone to go, it’s something we should all see.”
