Thanks to ms_sdak for letting us know about this video of Tom Felton being interviewed about the Robin Hood Tax on SkyNews.
The Robin Hood Tax is a tiny tax on banks, hedge funds and other finance institutions that would raise billions to tackle poverty and climate change, at home and abroad. Tom has been working with other actors to help promote the idea, which is also endorsed by hundreds of economists and financiers.
Earlier this morning, actor/director Noel Clarke posted this picture with Tom Felton and “Skins” actor Joe Dempsey. The three are working together to support the Robin Hood Tax, an idea proposed by a group of more than 300 economists and businessmen, where there would be a small tax on financial transactions that occur only between large institutions. There are estimates it could raise more than £250 to £450 billion a year worldwide. This money could then be used to help fight global climate change, world hunger, and more.
According to Tom, “Taking just a little from rich financial organisations could transform the lives of people in the UK whose jobs, homes and public services are under threat because of the economic crisis.”
Thanks to our friends at Snitchseeker, we now have this great interview with Matt Lewis, who plays Neville Longbottom in the Harry Potter franchise.
In the interview, Matt talks extensively about Twitter, and discusses Tom Felton:
SnitchSeeker: Have you mentioned it to any of your co-stars and what are their opinions on [Twitter]?
Matt: Tom Felton was on it long before I was. He’s got a massive, massive following – ‘cause of his music stuff as well. And he’s a terribly good looking chap, so he’s got a big following on there. And he is funny – I like some of the stuff he comes out with – and always has good pictures. So I’ve chatted with Tom about it. I know James and Oliver Phelps are on there now, too. It’s a weird thing ‘cause we communicate on there and say, ‘Oh what are up to? Blah, blah, blah’ and then we never talk about it at work. It just never comes up. So It’s a really weird seperate thing. But yeah, there’s a couple of us on there.
Feltbeats.com has just been informed that Tom Felton will be a guest on Sky News tomorrow, April 9, sometime between 8:30 am and 12:00 pm (I assume this is UK time). Unfortunately, we don’t have a more specific time frame, but hopefully we’ll find out soon.
Tom will be interviewed along with actor/director Noel Clarke to promote the Robin Hood Tax, an idea proposed by a group of more than 300 economists and businessmen, where there would be a small tax on financial transactions that occur only between large institutions. There are estimates it could raise more than £250 to £450 billion a year worldwide. This money could then be used to help fight global climate change, world hunger, and more.
On the Sky News Web site, some quotes from the interview are revealed. During the interview, Tom says:
“Our challenge to Brown, Cameron and Clegg is to reach out and hug the Robin Hoodies.
Taking just a little from rich financial organisations could transform the lives of people in the UK whose jobs, homes and public services are under threat because of the economic crisis.”
