New Interview by Sunday Express – Tom Felton : “My biggest regret is …”

Sunday Express has published a new interview with Tom.

Simon Button had 25 interesting questions for him:

Not a lot of people know this but I’m very good at… yo-yoing and diabolo – you know, that thing with two sticks and a piece of string. I’m pretty handy at both of those.

My best friend is… my girlfriend Jade. Having someone who truly understands you, where you don’t have to sugar-coat things and where most conversations can be held with just a look, is rare.

My nickname is… Feltz or F-Beats. The former is self-explanatory and the latter goes back to my early hip-hop-loving days, when I was 12 years old and thought I was going to be the next Eminem.

The bravest thing I’ve ever done is… a bungee jump, but I’m glad I did – it was exciting and very liberating.

My favourite TV show is… Breaking Bad, or it was until everyone else started to like it. Recently, I’ve been really enjoying Peaky Blinders. I’m in love with that whole era and the soundtrack is awesome too – I have those songs on repeat in my car.

My perfect evening is… a nice dinner, glass of wine and a film. Jade and I travel quite a lot and we’re not used to having our own kitchen, so it’s usually a case of scouring online delivery menus.

I’d like to say sorry to… my mum for not answering the phone yesterday, but I’m going to call her back.

My first kiss was… on a bouncy castle when I was 11. I claimed I was doing some sort of mouth-to-mouth resuscitation when actually it was just a ploy – but it worked and it was the start of a three-week relationship.

My biggest regret is… not answering the phone to my mum yesterday, but I’m the worst multitasker ever and I was driving at the time.

The one thing I’d change about myself is… my inability to do my own hair or dress myself even remotely stylishly.

The best thing my parents taught me was… manners. My mum instilled good manners in me early on – minding your Ps and Qs, opening doors for ladies and that sort of stuff – and it’s something that’s stuck with me. It’s a quintessential British trait and it shouldn’t be watered down, although my missus may tell you I’m not as good with it as I think I am.

The last time I cried was… when we lost our dog Timber a few months ago. She was only seven and I had a proper wail about that. She was chasing rabbits one minute with a clean bill of health, then she was diagnosed with cancer. It was a rapid descent and we’re very sad to lose her, but she had a great life.

The first record I ever bought was… Green Day’s Dookie album, although I can’t remember if I bought it or stole it from my brother. It’s not good for my image but

I like… wearing pyjamas outdoors. I’ve got these pyjama bottoms that I love. They’re red and chequered, which means I get some funny looks if I pop to the shops in them, but they’re so comfortable.

My greatest weakness is… ice cream or crêpes. I also have a terrible tendency when I’m in New York to frequent those hot-dog stands. Leave me there for half an hour and I could easily eat 10 of them.

If I could pass any law I would… exempt myself from parking fines. I don’t know if it’s because the signs are too complicated or I just have a horrendous inability to understand parking laws, but I have a terrible habit of picking up tickets.

I drive… a Mercedes CLA, which I adore. I’m obsessed with the gadgets inside. It’s got all the modern tech and it feeds my desire to be a bit of a boy because it sounds like a tiger is growling underneath the bonnet.

The shop I can’t walk past is… anywhere they sell musical instruments, the more rare and exotic the better. I end up going in for an hour and learning how to play some sort of Tibetan kazoo. If I had my way, I’d fill the house with such things, but I’ve been banned from doing that.

The most expensive thing I’ve ever splashed out on is… a Ford Focus for my mum six years ago. She’s still driving it, bless her heart.

My perfect Sunday is… a roast dinner at my mum’s, which I’m sure most sons would say. It’s my ultimate comfort food.

My favourite place in Britain is… the village of Ockley in Surrey. It’s got three pubs, a butcher’s shop and a cricket pitch – so that’s all the essentials covered.

My last holiday was… when we spent a few days last January in Big Sur on the California coast. It’s this beautiful spot with a fantastic forest, but it’s also right on the ocean and it’s pretty spectacular.

I’m currently reading… a lot of scripts, which is good, and the odd magazine. And I recently read The Dude and the Zen Master by Jeff Bridges, which is brilliantly written and very witty.

The best day of my life was… buying my dog Timber. My mum stressed to me that getting a dog was a bigger responsibility than I was capable of taking on, but with hindsight it proved I was able to make that commitment.

If I had half an hour left on Earth… I’d get everyone down the local pub if that was possible, sneak a quick pint in, have a game of darts and a little singsong then call it a day.
