Tom Felton talks getting twisted with the New Zealand Herald

As I started writing this post of Tom speaking about working with not only Daddy!Lucius, Jason Isaacs, but the Lord himself, Mr. Ralph Fiennes, life got in the way. And wouldn’t you know it, other great sites out there have taken the story and reported on it, too, so I will let Digital Spy tell you about the awesomeness of Tom talking about his mentor-figures.

You can read the original interview in its entirety at the New Zealand Herald.

Tom Felton has praised Jason Isaacs for his portrayal of Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter series.

The actor, who plays Draco Malfoy, told the New Zealand Herald that Issacs had played his on-screen father perfectly.

“Jason plays an evil sod so beautifully well,” he said. “He’s perfect as a villain. But it’s scary how he has the ability to be telling you a showbiz story one minute and as soon as they say, ‘camera rolling’ he snaps into this horrible [git], who grabs my ear and does all sorts of twisted things.

“I enjoy seeing these amazingly friendly people turn into such horrible characters.

“Ralph Fiennes is the worst. It’s an eye-opener playing alongside him, because he’s such a gentle soul, who’s quite calm and measured in his conversation, but then he instantly turns into this twisted, nasty creature the moment we start filming.”

Felton, who will be seen reprise his role in both parts of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows admitted that he did not why he had been chosen to play the Slytherin student.

“I don’t know what qualities I brought that made them think I could play this satanic child, but I am very grateful they chose me to play the bad guy rather than the goody,” he said. “I revelled in the fact I could vent my day-to-day frustrations through this Hitler-like child; it was actually quite therapeutic and enjoyable.”

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part One opens in cinemas on November 19.

Tom Felton is Screened, this time in English

Thanks to Chinami for sending us the English translation of Tom’s interview in Japan’s SCREEN magazine. Also, they’ve let us know about another little section in the same edition where Tom was mentioned. You can read about that below.

CAPTION ”Many encounters are the best memories”

Q:Please tell us Draco’s highlight scene in “Deathly Hallows” part 1.

There are spectacle scene where all the Malfoys get together. Voldemort uses Malfoy Manor as a kind of head office, and twenty of dark characters get together in the dining room. . Among them, only Draco is young and innocent. When filming, I was overwhelmed a bit as an actor, but I like that scene because only Draco has his conscience among them.

Q:What was the best memory in Harry Potter series?

Many encounters. That is the best memory. It was a honor that I could work with the same casts and crews in these 10 years. I was lucky enough to meet my girlfriend there. We have been together for about four years now, and I got my best friends too. Also I was invited to several wedding parties of the members. It was so nice to have many friends through your job.

Q:You have spent 10 years with this film. Do you feel any anxiety as this projects has finished?

As an actor, no experience would be more fearful and expecting. Of course now I’m enjoying the feeling of freedom to do this or that, but if I don’t get to do what I wanted to do, I would feel empty and lost, and wish that I could go back to the previous days. It was lucky I could have exciting days after Harry Potter as well. I’m thrilled to go into another world. I don’t think my career would be stable because of 10 years experience of Harry Potter. I have to advance more and more. So over the past year, I have been taking acting lessons and making efforts in my own way to do well in auditions. I’m aware that getting a role is never done by just waiting for somebody to hold it out to you.

Q:Are there any fans who think you are really Draco?

Many (laugh). That happens especially with children who are 9 years old and under. They come to the set, get hugged by Daniel, get kissed by Emma and shake hands with Rupert. Then they look at me, squeal, and back away (laugh). And I tell you, I’m always trying to be nice to them, saying things like “Hey guys, let’s shake hands.”

Q:Isn’t it because your performance is fine?

I’ve been acting convincingly enough to scare them off. That would mean I’m doing just fine, wouldn’t it? (laugh)

Q:We heard you’ll play a villain again in the next film.

I started filming “Rise of the Apes” after we finished Harry Potter. New role is different from Draco, but there is some kind of resemblance. Playing a villain is fun. People seem to believe I am good at playing such roles. No trouble. I’m happy to do it if they offer.

Q:Do you have any dreams beside acting?

Recently my friends and I started an indie record label to support young musicians who don’t have chance to show their talent. It’s very exciting.

Tom also appears in another special section in this issue titled “Twenty guys you’ll fall in love this autumn!”
In this topic, Rob Pattinson is on the first page, followed by Zac Efron, and Tom is introduced with his co-stars Daniel & Rupert.

Tom Felton in the latest issue of the German magazine Yeah!

Thanks to Sabkay for the scan and the translation of the interview of Tom Felton in the latest Yeah!.

Yeah! On November 18th Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I is starting. What was the most beautiful on set?
Tom: “Mhh. I really can’t say something special. Everything was nice. I enjoyed it very much, to hang out with the crew. We are one huge family!”

Yeah! The second part of The Deathly Hallows is also already filmed. What do you miss the most from the Harry-Potter-Time
Tom: (laughs) The shooting breaks. Rupert always gave me then lessons in Golf, we had so much fun. Well, and I miss somehow my role as Draco. He is really grown to my heart after the ten years. But all good things come to an end at some point!”

Yeah! You were allowed to shoot the Movie “The Apparition” together with Ashley Greene. How is she like?
Tom: Oh, she’s an insanely great actress and looks so fine on the screen – which I thought while I watched Twilight. It was really a honor for me to work with her. She’s so cute…”

Yeah! What did you think actually about “Twilight”?
Tom: “I’ve seen the films and i like them. My Girlfriend is a huge Fan of Twilight. She almost inhales all Books. When we were on holiday in Sicily, she hardly spoke to me.. because she just read. She knows all about Team Edward and Team Jacob. I have to admit honestly: I have no plan of it.”

Yeah! Your Girlfriend Jade has also worked on the Potter-Set – as a Stunt-Coordination-Assistant. Do you still get the chance to see each other after all is over now?
Tom: “Currently, yes. She’s with me at my Appointments, and we try to be together as often as possible. But next year we have different film projects – then it will be a little harder, but we’ll find a solution then.”

Yeah! I’ve heard that you also sing. Is that true?
Tom: “Yes, Music is besides acting my passion. I founded a own record label and gave myself a contract.”

Yeah! Hey, Tom! But that’s cheating!
Tom: (laughs) “Yeah, but it is much easier. It is not so much to me, I want to look for young talents and encourage them…”

Yeah! So you don’t make more music?
Tom: “Sure I do! I’ve recorded a few songs. Singing is so much fun for me!”

Yeah! How are your Songs?
Tom: “Rocking – not too hard not too soft. They are Guitar-Songs, just like the Songs of my idol John Mayer. The Fans can be excited in any case…”

Tom Felton appreciates the Harry Potter fans

Last month Harry Potter UK gave the fans on facebook the possibility to ask Tom Felton, Bonnie Wright, Evanna Lynch, Matthew Lewis or James and Oliver Phelps questions. Since mid-September, they post questions from fans and the responses of the stars on facebook. Today they published a question to Tom with his answer.

Tom Felton tells us how much he appreciates the Harry Potter fans in another of our Fan Q & As! Jennifer MacGregor asks: “Did you ever think, when filming the first film, that the series would become the phenomenon that it has?” Tom said: “Of course not! I had no idea that we would be still filming ten years later! It’…s incredible that the fans have kept us all going so long…I am very grateful for them.”
