Tom Felton has emotional visit to Auschwitz

Contactmusic.com has posted a little article covering Tom’s tweets from this morning when he mentioned his trip to Poland. During the trip, Tom visited Auschwitz, Birkenau and Monowitz and called it one of the most draining days he’s ever had.

This must have been a very emotional trip for Tom because his girlfriend’s aunt and uncle are Auschwitz survivors who sucked on coal to survive starvation.

Here is the story from Contactmusic.com:

Felton’s Tearful Trip To Auschwitz

HARRY POTTER star TOM FELTON has paid an emotional visit to Nazi death camp Auschwitz – calling the trip “mentally painful”.

The British actor travelled to the site of the former concentration camp in Poland on Tuesday (11May10), the place where an estimated 1.1 million people died during World War II.

And he admits he found the moving experience “hard”, but insists his fans should visit the site to witness the true horror of Nazi tyranny.

In a post on his Twitter.com blog, Felton writes, “I went to Poland yesterday, went to Auschwitz, it was a very hard and mentally painful day, however I’m so happy I’ve been and seen all the camps. I’m completely aware of what went on only a generation ago. I recommend everyone to go, it’s something we should all see.”

Tom Felton Looks Towards The Undead for His Next Tour de Force

It seems the time has come once again for reporters to make their way on set for interviews with the cast and crew of the “Harry Potter” films. This time, the on set report comes courtesy of the Manila Bulletin whose Janet Susan Nepales had the pleasure of speaking with not only Tom, but director David Yates and co-star’s Rupert Grint and Robbie Coltrane.

We recently went on our first visit to the set of a “Harry Potter” movie. Or we should say movies since it involves “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Parts I and II.” We were excited to go to Leavesden Studios in London where David Yates was directing the last installments. There were 140 extras walking around in costumes; some of them waiting for their cue while others were taking their lunch breaks at the canteen. One of the highlights for us was sitting on Professor Dumbledore’s chair in his office and pretending to create our own magical potions. We were able to talk to some of the talented crew members and cast like Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley), Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy) and Robbie Coltraine (Rubeus Hagrid).

Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) was not feeling well so he was not around for the interviews. Director David Yates stressed the importance of Daniel showing up to work soon. He said, “We could be in trouble if Daniel Radcliffe is out again. I hope he feels better soon.” David, who has done two “Harry Potter” movies already and is now doing the final two, revealed that he tries to relax by doing yoga during lunch time and is planning to take three months off after doing the much-awaited final installments.

Rupert peppered his replies with a lot of his characteristic “yeahs” and “ums.” He revealed that he plays Guitar Hero with Daniel and Emma Watson when they are not filming and he definitely looks forward to keeping in touch with them when they are done doing the “Harry Potter” movies. Tom was charming and eloquent and did not look the least like the “bad guy.” “No more blonde evil wizards for me after ‘Harry Potter,’” he said. “Probably I’ll be a vampire next,” he kiddingly said. Robbie, dressed in costume, amusedly shared, “You probably don’t know but Daniel loves The Killers and Lady Gaga.”

Teen!Tom Felton Finds His Way Into the Feltbeats Photo Gallery

Tom’s teenage likeness didn’t like that all his newer photos were making their way to our doorstep so he’s been popping up all over the internet when we’ve least expected. He must have been lonely out there in the interwebz.  For instance, in a random search, Fealtbeats admin Estrella89san found photos and screencaps from 2003 of Tom and his “Harry Potter” co-star Emma Watson at the Disney Channel Kids Awards. Emma recently gave an interview with Vanity Fair where she mentioned her school girl crush on the Slytherin Prince. UPDATE: Thanks to user J for a scan of Tom’s mention. You can see it here in our galleries.

2003 was a busy year from Tom, and once again, it did not want to be ignored in Estrella’s Google searches. In 2003, Tom helped start the World Junior Carp Tournament on the St. Lawrence River in upstate New York, USA,  and the event has taken place every summer since. Even then, “he [was] a nice likeable lad who isn’t a spoilt prima donna like so many actors.” Nice to hear times haven’t changed in that regard.

And last but not least, how could we forget all the red carpet events Tom has attended over the years?  From the BAFTA’s in 2001 to Scooby Doo 2 in 2004 to his various “Harry Potter” premieres from CoS to OoTP,  New York to London. Who could forget these shorn hair styles when he was dead set on losing his Draco ‘do between productions?  Maybe that’s why these photos have been popping up in our searches lately? Is this Tom’s natural hair color begging to see the light of day again? Only time will tell. 😉

Many thanks to Estrella for the trip down memory lane!
