Tom Felton discusses kissing, Gossip Girls, and Feltbeats.com with Seventeen Magazine

Update: Apparently Lilyginny27 posted this a few days ago. LOL! But, I think a lot of us (including myself, obviously) missed it, so it’s probably good we’ve posted it twice! 😉

A really cute interview has been posted by Seventeen Magazine (in the dating section – hmm!). It is very revealing! I didn’t know most of this stuff, did you?

Thanks so much to @arikagranger of Magical-Menagerie.com for pointing out the post to us!

How old were you when you had your first kiss?

I think I was 12, and it was Spin the Bottle. Everyone was like, “Have you been kissed before?” And I was like, “Yeah, I’m a professional!” I was so nervous, and the bottle landed on me. The kiss was okay, but not too memorable.

Who’s your celebrity crush?

Megan Fox. I’m being suckered in by the Transformers pictures right now. I’ve seen her on the red carpet and in pictures, and she does look gorgeous. I’m glad my girlfriend’s not in the room to hear me say that.

What’s the girl fashion trend that confuses the heck out of you?

That punk look where girls wear boys’ shirts and skinny jeans. It’s almost to the point where you don’t know if they’re female or not. I like my ladies lady-ish, feminine so to speak. I love jeans and hoodies, but the idea of being an ultimate tomboy does slightly confuse me.

What’s the chick flick you secretly love?

The Notebook. My girlfriend got me into it, but the way the story is told is beautiful. I’ve watched it about three or four times now. I didn’t cry, even though my girlfriend was crying all the way through it. It wasn’t a sad film; it was a beautiful film.

What’s your TV guilty pleasure?

Here’s one that not even my girlfriend knows. She makes me watch all sorts of things, and Gossip Girl is her favorite program. She’s die-hard for Gossip Girl. So she’s made me watch it for three or four episodes now, but now when she’s not there, I watch it alone.

Who would play you in the movie version of your life?

I’ll be hugely arrogant and say Brad Pitt. No! It’s impossible to say — Robert Pattinson? Well, I’d like to say myself, really. I don’t think there’s anyone out there who could quite embody me — although I am a big fan of lots of British actors.

What’s your dream job?

Probably singing and songwriting — I love the guitar. I put a video on YouTube about a year ago and it went crazy. It’s a hobby, but it doesn’t overtake acting. I love the idea that no matter what happens with all this, in 20 years time, if I have to sing on the street corner for a bit of money every day, then I can do it.

If you could trade places with anyone in the world for one day, who would it be?

I’d love to be in Paul McCartney’s shoes for a day. I’d love to pick up a guitar and write songs like he does. Or to experience what it might have been like to be a Beatle for a day. There are lots of musicians whose shoes I’d like to step into for a day — I’d like to see how the craziness of their lives differs from the Harry Potter madness.

Who in your family are you closest to?

I’ve got to say my mom. She’s the one who’s kept me going over the years; she made sure I was okay in my early years. For about a year now, I’ve been living with my older brother. We enjoy each other’s company — it’s a lot of fun.

What’s your favorite Web site?

There was a fan site started a couple of years ago called feltbeats.com, and they have been so helpful personally. They tell me what I’m doing when I don’t even know what’s going on! They’ll be like, “Oh, did you know you’re doing a store appearance in Canada next week?” They do it all out of the goodness of their own hearts, and I’m very grateful.

What’s the fast food you can’t live without?

It’s funny, because obviously we stay in lots of nice places. Today when we checked in, the room service menu was quite extensive, and they offered us anything we wanted. And I said, “All I want to do is go to McDonald’s!” So I walked two blocks there.

What’s your worst habit?

I’m terrible at texting people back. It takes me like three days. I’m not a big phone person.

What’s the last song you listened to on your iPod?

Green Day’s “Last Night on Earth” off their new album. I’m also a real Jack Johnson fan. But I have really strange taste. I love hard-core hip-hop, like Method Man’s new album, but I also like classical. Wherever the mood takes me — I like to dive into new musical fields. When I listened to hip-hop at an early age, my grandpa used to say that my ears would mature and I would grow out of it. And I was like, “Never! I’m not going to like classical.” But now I do. It’s what happens, we grow into our parents!

What’s the last thing you bought?

I bought a new car before I came out here. Technically, I bought McDonald’s two hours ago, but the car was the last substantial thing. I’m not a big splurger of money, but my guilty pleasures do lie within BMWs. I get roped in.

What did you dream about last night?

Before I came out here, a lady friend gave me a plant for good luck. I don’t really know how to care for plants, so I asked my brother if he could look after the plant. Then I had a dream that the plant grew like Jack-and-the-Beanstalk style. I went home and it was 20 feet high! I don’t know what that’s trying to tell me, whether my plant’s in danger or I’m not sure. It was like Harry Potter — a magical plant!

How much money is in your wallet right now?

Nothing, literally! All I carry is cards. I don’t have a penny on me, it’s not great. I’m going to be ultra-noncelebrity and say nothing. But I’m not usually a massive spender. All I need is fuel for the car and a bit of food for my belly. And as long as my Chesapeake Bay retriever, Timber, is fed. She’s the love of my life.

Fill in the blank: When I was 17, I was ____________.

Interested in passing my driving lessons. I took my test about two weeks after I turned 17, and that was the best birthday of my life. It took me three attempts, might I add, but I got it in the end!

Herald Sun Interviews the Blond Bombshell of Hogwarts [AKA Tom Felton]

Today the Herald Sun released an interview with Tom Felton [Yes, as a matter of fact, it is spelled with an L], talking about the HBP and his interactions – pranks, Harry Potter on Ice, how Tom Felton is pondering kidnapping, and more – on the Harry Potter set.

Here is the interview, but you can also read it at its source here:

DRACO Malfoy has got his hands full in the latest Harry Potter installment. Tom Fenton talks about his role as the blonde bombshell of Hogwarts.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince marks the sixth time you have played Draco Malfoy. Do you feel you’ve finally got a bit more meat to chew on in this latest instalment?

Very much so. I’ve been sinking my teeth well into the meat, so to speak. I was looking forward to every scene, it’s been good fun getting my hands around a bit more plot. Truth be told, in the previous films it’s not really been that stretching.

What is Draco up to in The Half-Blood Prince?

He’s in a conflicting position with the dark side. This is the comeuppance of previous years. It’s time to decide where his loyalties lie. He’s been asked to fulfil a deed he thinks he’s capable of, and it’s a mass confliction throughout the film whether he can do it or not. He keeps pumping himself up, then losing it again.

Jim Broadbent is a newcomer to the Potter world in this film, but you worked with him when you were eight on The Borrowers, right?

Yes, it’s surreal. It’s 13 years on since we did that, and I would never have guessed in a million years we’d both be here. I was very pleased to see he remembered me and we talked about old times. Jim’s a great character. I was laughing my head off at him on set. I can’t look at him while we shoot ‘cos he pulls all sorts of funny faces.

Are many pranks pulled on the Potter set?

Every year I’ve had this question and I’ve lamely said “nothing” each time. But on this one we had the first incident I’ve seen — someone gaffer-taped my dressing room trailer door closed, so one was not able to get in for a few hours.

Do you know who was responsible?

When I turned around to a flock of giggling co-stars, I quickly found out my Slytherin crew were to blame, and they got many an embarrassing photo of me standing outside. Happy memories.

Are you starting to think about life after Potter?

Very much so. It’s depressing, it’s a terrible thought that this is all going to come to an end one day. However, we must plan for the future somehow. I feel slightly like I’ve taken it for granted over the six or seven years, so I didn’t let it happen on this one — every day I was making the most of it and enjoying it.

You’re still only 21. Will you go to university?

I always said I wanted to go to university, but I wanted to do it out of work, so I could put my full three years in and not be distracted by other commitments. It’s uncertain. I’m still waiting for this to be over before I decide.

You’ve made a thriller called 13Hrs. Do you have your eye on any other acting jobs?

I’m open to suggestions. I’m far from being in the position to start turning away things. Anything that would expand my horizons as an actor, I’d certainly bite the hand off whoever is offering it.

Have you and your castmates grown into different people over six movies?

It doesn’t feel so, because we’ve grown up together and it’s quite hard to notice the difference when you’re around each other so much. But if you refer to previous films and look back at how everyone looked and acted, it’s vastly different to what it is now, and I’d like to think greatly improved on everyone’s behalf. It’s quite strange to look back, especially Dan (Radcliffe), Rupert (Grint) and Emma (Watson) — it’s amazing how much they’ve grown up.

Who are you closest to?

I dare not say! Recently young Daniel and I have been conversing quite a bit about cricket, we’re cricket enthusiasts, so we spend many an hour talking about cricket. But Emma’s a very nice girl and I have a lot of time for her.

Can you escape the Potter hype more easily than the other stars? When you go off set and your hair isn’t so blond, can you blend in?

Well, unfortunately, when they dye your hair they dye your hair for good. There’s no escaping that. Thank god for hats. But I’m very lucky. I’d say I’ve been recognised two or three times in my whole life, so I’m very grateful that I don’t have to carry the burden of fame everywhere I go. Don’t get me wrong, I lap it up on premiere nights and so forth. But generally speaking, on a day-to-day basis, I’m quite happy to be the normal guy.

If you could play any other Potter character, who would it be?

I really wouldn’t want to play any other character. I get great joy out of being a miserable git most of the day. It’d have to be someone bad. I couldn’t be a Gryffindor, I couldn’t stomach the love and the happiness and all the rest of it.

Are you looking forward to what you’ll get to do as Draco in the final two films?

Very much so. I tried to resist reading the final book when it came out, but that lasted about 12 hours. Then I sat down and ploughed through the whole thing in about 24 hours. I regret doing that, but I can’t go back. It’s a great book with a cool finish — the Battle of Hogwarts is a good idea.

If you could take anything from the set after the last film, what would you take?

The people. Is that really cheesy? I shouldn’t have said that, should I? I tell ya, I’m so not looking forward to it ending.

Will you cry?

I did two films previous to the Harry Potter phenomenon and both of those I blubbed my heart out and I’m pretty sure I used some terrible excuse that I tripped and fell or something along those lines. We’ve all been very lucky on this ‘cos you know you’re going to be back and it’s a big reunion and happy days. But after the very last one, I dare not talk about it, it’s quite upsetting.

Surely there’ll be a reunion?

Yes: Harry Potter on Ice.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is now showing.

Tom Felton “Off the Cuff with Peter Travers” Now Online

Feltbeats.com received word from Rolling Stone itself that Tom’s interview with Peter Travers has now been published online. For those of you following Tom’s tweets, you know he met with Peter last Friday during his promotional tour of Harry potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

Rolling Stone introduced the video with the following blurb:

In Peter Travers’ second “Off the Cuff” interview — an informal chat in his office where Hollywood stars are grilled on a variety of topics — Rolling Stone’s movie critic breaks out his own magic wand (which looks like a blunt, he points out) for Tom Felton, who plays loathsome bully Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter films (read Travers’ review of the sixth film). Felton recalled the joys of listening to blaring ’60s punk at 5 a.m. while getting his make-up done on the Potter set care of Potter star Daniel Radcliffe, and revealed how auditioning for the role of Potter and Ron Weasley led to a rainbow of humiliating hairstyles. He also clues Travers in on the trick to playing a really bad guy, and strums a little acoustic guitar.
