Feltbeats.com’s 2010 Year In Review

Now that we are steaming ahead in 2011, we want to take one last look at the happenings of 2010 and what a great year it was for Tom Felton and Feltbeats.com. We have compiled a list of our Top 10 Tom stories last year so here we go!

10. Fan Conventions

There were plenty of Fan Conventions in 2010, some attended by Tom, some not, but all featuring Feltbeats.com members!

As many of you know, Tom attended Dragon*Con in Atlanta, Georgia in 2009. While many of us hoped he would return again this year, we are quite happy that he had to spend his time with hairy apelike creatures instead. However, in many a conversation leading up to his final filming schedule being released for “Cesar: Rise of the Apes,” he had still hoped to join up. We decided after it was determined the producers would not let him leave Canada that we would instead bring the con to him.
Phelps

As you all know, Tom couldn’t make it to Ring*Con in Bonn, Germany due to shooting “From the Rough” in New Orleans, Louisiana. Still I was there to represent feltbeats.com and it was great.

Magic christmas

9. New Projects

2010 was Tom’s busiest year yet with in addition to the end of Harry Potter fiming, a whole slew of new projects were announced such as The Apparition, From The Rough, Caesar: Rise Of The Apes, and White Other

Tom had a chance to discuss his role of “Patrick” in The Apparition recently with MTV.com, and we learn exactly how long he’ll be in Berlin, and that not only his character mentally different from his iconic role of Draco Malfoy, it’s physically different as well.
Tom Vancouver
Just Jared Jr. has reported that Tom Felton is in Vancouver Canada filming one of his latest projects: Caesar: Rise of the Apes.
In October, we were introduced to the brilliant “White Other”, Tom’s latest film venture:
Ray Marsden
A character channeled by our own Tom Felton, Ray has come to life in a secret project to be announced later this week. Tom is breathtaking as he portrays the anguish of a troubled youth demanding to see a patient in hospital while being confronted by a skeptical nurse, lonely and solitary in the dead of night.

8. Comic-Con

Tom was give the honour of presenting the newest Harry Potter Part 1 trailer at the 2010 Comic-Con International and attended a round table discussion with Feltbeats.com and other Harry Potter sites.

Amy and Tom

Thanks to Feltbeats.com reporter Amy_Marie97, we’ve got this wonderful interview with Tom at ComicCon. In the interview, Tom gives more details about upcoming projects.

comic con

Our real excuse for posting this video was so we could go “hey, we found new photos of Tom at San Diego’s Comic Con.” But in actuality, it’s because the video PopCandiesTV has of Tom being screamed at by fans as he left the event was just too cute not to share.

7. Charity

In 2010, Tom devoted a good part of his free time to many worthwhile causes:

Tom started the year by making a very gracious donation to the HP Alliance’s auction for relief in Haiti.

Guitar

As promised, Tom tweeted a picture of the guitar that he donated to the Harry Potter Alliance’s fundraiser.
Thanks to @r_p_f and Megan, we have this new photo of Tom posing with fans at the “Be a Gunner. Be a Runner.” charity event which took place earlier today to raise money for the Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Actor/director Noel Clarke posted this picture with Tom Felton and “Skins” actor Joe Dempsey. The three are working together to support the Robin Hood Tax, an idea proposed by a group of more than 300 economists and businessmen, where there would be a small tax on financial transactions that occur only between large institutions. There are estimates it could raise more than £250 to £450 billion a year worldwide. This money could then be used to help fight global climate change, world hunger, and more.
RHT4
Thanks to gracelightning56 for uploading the video of her trip to see Tom Felton and Devon Murray at the There with Care screening and VIP party for “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1″ held in Colorado over the weekend. In the video, we see Tom and Devon attend an auction followed by an autograph signing.
At a recent screening of Tom’s latest Harry Potter adventure, there was shown beforehand the poignant documentary Zimbabwe’s Children. Watch as Tom humbly realizes that the life of millions of children such as those in the film is without hope of an education, decent jobs, or a rise out of poverty as he beseeches the audience to help these children receive an education and childhood of their own.
Taking a cue from Tom, Feltbeats.com also got into the fundraising action:
Feltbeats.com will be holding a Charity Fundraiser in celebration of  Tom Felton’s 10 years playing Slytherin Bad Boy Draco Malfoy. Over the next six months, we will be collecting donations for the newest charity near and dear to Tom’s heart. Inspired by the documentary, ”Zimbabwe’s Forgotten Children”

Caesar: Rise Of The Apes Moves From June To November Release

LA Times is reporting that 20th Century Fox has confirmed that they will be moving the release of Caesar: Rise Of The Apes to November 23rd.

A Fox spokesman said that the November date will allow for increased postproduction time, and also steers the film to a place on the calendar with fewer big-budget action movies. This coming June-July period will see a number of effects-driven blockbuster hopefuls such as “X-Men: First Class,” “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” and the final film in the Harry Potter franchise.

MTV Names Tom Felton One Of Their 11 To Watch In 2011

In a recent interview with MTV, Tom talks about his upcoming projects, missing out on reshooting the epilogue,  and why MTV thinks 2011 will be his best year yet:

Over the past week here at MTV News, we’ve been highlighting 11 people you’ll be hearing about in 2011. From Kim Kardashian’s plans to take over the pop world to self-proclaimed future “best artist of the year” Wiz Khalifa, we’ve selected a wide variety of folks who will be making waves and headlines this year.

Now, MTV News is proud to recognize Tom Felton. Yes, he had a lot going for him in 2010, with “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1” and everything that comes along with promoting a billion-dollar film franchise. He also picked up his first Golden Popcorn trophy at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards, where he was named Best Villain.

When we caught up with Felton recently, we chatted about why this year will be even bigger than the last, what to expect from his performances in “Apparition” and “Rise of the Apes,” as well as an update on his budding music career.

MTV: Have you seen any finished scenes from “Rise of the Apes” or “Apparition” yet?

Tom Felton: They have been very, very tight with both films. I’ve seen maybe half a scene of “Apparition.” We were doing some for that, and it looked great. It looked really beautiful, the way it was shot. “Rise of the Apes” they’re keeping very much under lock and key, so I’m exceptionally excited. When I was there [during filming], I experienced so many fantastic performances around me. I’m excited to see it come to life onscreen. It’s going to be a great film.

MTV: What about the “Deathly Hallows – Part 2” reshoots for that heavily hyped epilogue?

Felton: Believe it or not, I got left off the hook. Apparently, the shot setup didn’t require my presence, so I was let off the hook at the last minute. I got all excited about going back, but I heard everything went swimmingly and everything is looking fantastic.

MTV: You once mentioned a brilliant potential scene between you and Dan Radcliffe where you, as Draco and Harry, run and hug. You should make that happen.

Felton: [Laughs.] I may get Dan around here one day this weekend and we may just shoot that ourselves and send it in. It needs to be seen, doesn’t it?

MTV: Obviously, we here at MTV News have been fans of yours for quite some time, but it seems like a lot of other people have jumped on the Felton fan bandwagon. Do you feel a sense of that at all?

Felton: I’ve been exceptionally lucky, with lots of aspects of my life. The people around me have been fantastic, and I feel we’re in a great position with some really exciting films to come out this year. I’m enjoying L.A. when I go there as well. That was a bit of a foreign town for me at first, but I’m thoroughly enjoying my time out there, so I’m looking forward to getting out there at some point next year. There’s lots to look forward to.

MTV: What’s the latest with your music?

Felton: It’s all going very well. We’re currently in development with a few artists that we’re hoping to get out next year and just promote this idea that low-key music can be some of the best. I’m hoping to do some other recording later on in the year. It’s a massive passion project of mine, and the fans’ response has been fantastic, and MTV has been good to me there as well. I thoroughly appreciate that.

MTV: What can you tell us about working with Ashley Greene (who is also one of our 11 for ’11)?

Felton: I was hugely excited about working with her [on “Apparition”], and her talent was exceptionally easy to notice very quickly. One of the first scenes I saw her do, she was in a very sort of panicky state and she jumped straight into it after lunch. It was amazing to see. I thoroughly enjoyed working with everyone on “Rise of the Apes” as well. Andy Serkis to me is one of the most memorable people I worked with this year. He’s truly amazing to watch and an absolute gentleman offscreen as well, which is always nice. I’ve been very lucky in working with nice people.

MTV: Are you still playing golf with your “Potter” co-stars, Rupert Grint, James and Oliver Phelps?

Felton: Yes, most certainly. We haven’t teed up in a while, but I’m definitely on for that. We occasionally swing the clubs. It’s always nice to get the Weasleys out for a quick round of golf.

MTV: You guys should film that sometime. I’m sure fans would want to see it.

Felton: It’s very funny you should say that. I don’t want to speak ahead, but we have actually done that, and I’m not sure if James is putting together a little video or if it’s going to end up on something — I haven’t seen anything yet — but I have a feeling that one day that video may make it to air.

Feltbeats Army Member Raffles Tom Felton Portrait For Queensland Flood Relief

Feltbeats Army Member, and Australia native @Rotae is raffling one of the amazing Tom Felton portraits that she has drawn, to raise money for flood victims in Queensland. A talented artist, she is the creator of our very own Feltbeats logo. More info from Rotae:

Over the past week flooding has absolutely devastated the southern part of the state of Queensland, Australia. 75% of Queensland has been declared a disaster zone, an area twice the size of Texas and over five times the size of the United Kingdom.

The Queensland Government has launched an appeal to help fellow Queenslanders affected by the recent floods. Many communities have been devastated. Some families have lost everything.

In the hopes of helping out, I’m raffling off a portrait I drew of Tom Felton for his 22nd Birthday in 2009 with all proceeds going to the Premier’s Flood Relief Appeal.

You can donate any amount. Any monetary donation up to $5 will receive one number in the draw, and donations up to $10 will receive two, with the numbers going up in $5 increments. Both Australian and US $ are accepted as they’re basically the same thing at the moment anyway. I decided to do a raffle as opposed to an auction as now people can donate whatever they have to spare.

As you can see, it doesn’t go right to the edges of the page and sorry about the reflections off the picture, LOL. I’ll be cutting the binding area off too :)

As the appeal is not currently listed on any charity websites, I’m accepting payments and will be depositing all donations directly through my account – I’ll be posting screenshots of the transfer when it’s done. My email address is rotae_lupin@hotmail.com. Please make sure to put what name you wish to be acknowledged with in the notes if it’s different to your payment name.

The raffle is open for one week starting as soon as this post is up, so we’ll say until Thursday the 20th of January 18:00 AEST.

Thank you in advance for your support and generosity. Please share this wherever you feel appropriate.

Peace,
Rotae

If you would like a chance to win this beautiful portrait of Tom Felton, please donate. Thanks 🙂
