Tom Felton spoke at the Comic Con with abc 7 about “Deathly Hallows” and his other film roles

The two-part film Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the final installment in the hit series, is edgier, grittier and may be seen as more shocking than the previous few films, says Tom Felton, who plays villainous wizard student Draco Malfoy.

“This isn’t going to get a little edgier, this is going to get a lot edgier,” said Felton, 22. “The audiences that may have been suitable in the first two films are going to be quite radically shocked in this one, I think.”

“The stuff that I’ve shot was certainly a lot more grittier, I don’t want to say hardcore but they’ve taken it to a whole other level with the action sequences and the battles. It’s a lot of fun,” he said

In the final movie, whose first installment is set for release on November 19, Harry Potter, played by Daniel Radcliffe, faces off in a final battle against his nemesis, the evil wizard Voldemort.

Felton, who was not originally cast as Malfoy and kept his hair dyed blond since he first played the character in the first film, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (called Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone outside of the United States), when he was about 14, says he is “honored” to be a part of the franchise.

“To say it’s been a privilege is a massive understatement,” Felton said. “I’m hugely honored to be a part of this. I’m incredibly grateful. I’ve never gotten used to it. I’m hugely grateful to all the fans who have kept us going.”

Tom Felton, who plays Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter films, says he has begun filming Rise of the Apes, a prequel to the popular Planet of the Apes sci-fi movies, and also finished shooting a movie with Twilight’s Ashley Greene.

“I’ve just started shooting Caesar, Rise of the Apes, which is the Planet of the Apes prequel, which I’m mega, mega excited about,” Felton said. “It’s a project that I’ve been really passionate about for a long time.”

Felton, 22, also recently filmed a movie called The Apparition with Ashley Greene, who portrayed the vampire Alice Cullen in the Twilight films. Felton said the project was “a kind of science thriller with an ounce of horror.”

RUMOR: Tom Felton’s character in “Caesar:Rise of the Apes” has a name.

In their write up from San Diego’s Comic Con, Access Hollywood reveals that Tom’s character name in “Caesar: Rise of the Apes” is Dodge.

2:00 PM – Tom Felton from the Harry Potter films is the sole cast member at Comic-Con to represent the films. He jokes that having to watching himself go through puberty on screen through all the films has been tough and that he and Daniel Radcliffe go back and watch the first film and can’t believe what bad actors they were! Felton has already moved on to his next projects. He just wrapped filming on a movie with “Twilight’s” Ashley Green and from Comic-Con he goes straight to the set of the new “Planet of the Apes” movie (starring James Franco). He’ll play a human character named Dodge.

As soon as this is confirmed, we’ll let you know. Tom returned to the set immediately following his stint in San Diego, but is currently on a break from the film and back in London before he will then return to the set at an undisclosed future time. With his world travels of late, it could be tomorrow, tonight, or some time next week after he hits another country or three. 😉

And then there were tears: TomsFriendDan Radcliffe says Tom Felton speaks the truth.

In an interesting interview with the LATimes today, Tom’s friend Daniel Radcliffe backed up Tom’s remarks of him “crying like a girl” during the final takes of “Deathly Hallows.”

There was one “Deathly Hallows” cast member at Comic-Con; Tom Felton, who plays Draco Malfoy, appeared and I interviewed him on stage in front of an audience of 6,500, which cheered the actor as well as the footage from “Deathly Hallows” that was shown for the first time anywhere. I mentioned to Radcliffe that his on-screen rival told the crowd that the film’s title star cried like a little girl on the final day of shooting.

“You know what, I’d love to libel him and call it a lie, but, darn, he’s absolutely right. We all three of us — me, Rupert and Emma — we just wept. And I’ve never seen Rupert Grint cry. That was really weird.”

Poor Dan and his non-presence. But from all of us here at Feltbeats.com, we wish TomsFriendDan the best of belated birthdays. 🙂
